We are a citizen-led military support organization founded in 1902 to support the sea services — U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. The New York Council was the first council established and is now one of the largest and most active of the Navy League of the United States councils. Many New Yorkers and Sailors know us as one of the founders of Fleet Week New York.

Join us in honoring two 9/11 heroes

Two of the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11 were also U.S. Coast Guard Reservists. In 2026, we will recognize their service and sacrifice with the commissioning of two USCG cutters named in their honor — USCGC Vincent Danz (on May 22) and USCGC Jeffrey Palazzo (on September 12). 

The registration deadline has passed for the Danz commissioning, but you can still honor both of these heroes by donating in support of their namesake USCG fast response cutters. All individual donors of $100 or more will receive complimentary admission to select USCGC Jeffrey Palazzo commissioning celebration events.
