HONORING A 9/11 HERO. CARRYING HIS LEGACY FORWARD.

A LIFE OF SERVICE

Before joining the FDNY, Jeffrey Palazzo served eight years on active duty in the United States Coast Guard.

He served as a machinery technician aboard Coast Guard Cutter Cape Horn and at Station Chatham, where he qualified as a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew member.

Palazzo later continued his Coast Guard service as a reservist while serving New York City as a firefighter with FDNY Rescue Company 5.

On September 11, 2001, Palazzo responded to the World Trade Center, where he made the ultimate sacrifice while trying to save others.

Twenty-five years later, his name returns to New York aboard a Coast Guard cutter built to serve and protect.

FROM NAME TO MISSION

On June 11, 2026, the U.S. Coast Guard accepted delivery of USCGC Jeffrey Palazzo (WPC 1163), the 63rd Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutter.

On September 12, 2026, the cutter will be commissioned in New York, 25 years after September 11, 2001.

Following commissioning, USCGC Jeffrey Palazzo will join the Coast Guard fleet in Guam, carrying his name and legacy into active service.
