Anchors Aweigh Congressional Fly-In

The Legislative Affairs Office at Navy League National Headquarters hosts members from councils all over the country to conduct a day of advocacy on Capital Hill. Online training will lead up to an evening of in-person training on June 1, then transportation is provided from HQ to the United States Capital for a day of meetings with elected officials and their staff. Transportation will also be available from National HQ to Norfolk on July 3 for any members attending the national convention.

Intrepid Museum Memorial Day Ceremony

The Intrepid Former Crew Members invite New York Council Navy League members to join them for a solemn ceremony honoring the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have given their lives in defense of our nation. Civic and military leaders will offer remarks and join in a special wreath-laying ceremony in honor of the fallen. The ceremony is scheduled to conclude with a flyover by Navy fighter jets.

Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument Memorial Day Ceremony

The Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial Association is proud to include the New York Council Navy League in their wreath laying and ceremony at the Monument in Manhattan’s Riverside Park once again. Since 2004, the Monument has served as the site of the city’s largest Memorial Day observance, honoring all those who have served our nation in war. Hundreds of New Yorkers, as well as local leaders, veterans and members of the armed forces, attend each year. Council President James Spear, accompanied by our sponsor, Walter B. Cooke Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial provider, will present a wreath on behalf of the Council.

USCGC VINCENT DANZ (WPC 1162) Commissioning Ceremony

Save the date for a special commissioning celebration of the fast response cutter named in honor of Vincent Danz, a New York Police Department officer and a Port Security Specialist Second Class in the United States Coast Guard Reserve who drilled at USCG Sector New York. Officer Danz died responding to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, and the Council was proud to have participated in the naming ceremony for the cutter in November 2019.

Lifting All Boats: Lessons from Black Maritime Pioneers

New York Council Navy League members and friends are invited to an evening of maritime history, modern perspectives and networking, sponsored by Chase Bank and The Harlem Rocket. Come celebrate some of our members and partners who are achieving great things in NYC and learn more about our mission and programs for 2026. CAPT Thurraya Kent, USN (Ret.), Strategic Growth Director of the US Naval Sea Cadets, will serve as our emcee and introduce some local Sea Cadets. The program will include historical perspectives and a fireside chat with:

  • Garry Johnson, maritime industry entrepreneur and Council member

  • Andre Stuckey, Executive Director of New Jersey Maritime Pilot and Docking Pilot Commission

Join New York Council Navy League, Naval Academy Alumni Association - NY Metro Chapter and New York City Naval Academy Parents Club as our organizations come together to host the last of three 2025 USNA Football Watch Parties. We’ll be at The Perfect Pint’s Times Square location for an afternoon celebrating college football’s greatest rivalry — the Army-Navy Game.

Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, and include admission plus two drink tickets good for beer, wine or soft drinks. Doors open at 2:30 P.M and kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Our West Point friends are welcome too — someone has to sing first!

New York City Veterans Day Parade

Cadets from our sponsored youth units will honor our nation's heroes by marching with the New York Council Navy League banner in the country’s largest Veterans Day parade, organized by the United War Veterans Council.

The parade takes place rain or shine in the heart of Manhattan, running north on Fifth Avenue between 26th Street and approximately 50th Street. Muster areas and times for participating groups wil be announced closer to Veterans Day.

Prior to the parade, United War Veterans Council holds a brief wreath-laying procession and ceremony at the Eternal Light Flagstaff in Madison Square Park at 11:00AM.

The New York Military Affairs Symposium is hosting a special in-person and oniine event at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center Campus. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:45 P.M. and the attire is business casual.

Please join naval analyst and historian Dr. Norman Friedman for a discussion of his book, The Fifty Year War: Conflict and Strategy in the Cold War.

Dr. Friedman is an author, analyst, strategist and historian. He has written over 30 books and numerous articles on naval and military affairs. He has worked for the US Navy and Marine Corps, and has appeared on television programs including PBS, the Discovery Channel, C-SPAN and National Geographic. The Fifty Year War: Conflict and Strategy in the Cold War was a previous winner of the Duke of Westminster Medal for Military Literature for the best miliary history book from the British Royal Services Institute.

Celebrate Homecoming 250 on Battleship NJ with USS Cooperstown

USS Cooperstown is scheduled to participate in Homecoming 250, the celebration of the 250th anniversaries of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. With festivities taking place along the Philadelphia and Camden sides of the Delaware River, we're planning a road trip to join the celebration.

New York Council Navy League and Battleship New Jersey will be hosting a lunch on board the historic vessel with the crew of our adopted ship plus members from Navy League councils throughout the area and their guests. There will be time for self-guided tours on board Battleship New Jersey before lunch, with lunch served 11:00 A.M.–1:00 P.M. We will provide complimentary shuttle service throughout the day to and from Penn’s Landing on the Philadelphia side for anyone who would like to view the Homecoming 250 vessels there.

Lunch with open bar beer, wine and soft drinks is $45 for adults. Guests 12 and under can attend for $25. You can add round trip transportation between Lower Manhattan and Camden for $25 per person, or travel on your own.

Bowling Bash

Join the New York Council Navy League and cadets from our sponsored youth programs at Frames Bowling Lounge, 550 9th Ave, for an afternoon of bowling and refreshments while helping us raise funds toward our three-part mission to support the sea services.

All tickets for the event include two hours of unlimited bowling, shoe rental, and food and soft drinks.

Sponsorship also includes group bowling packages and branding opportunities.

  • Group ticket (four bowlers) $180

  • Non-profit partner lane sponsor $500
