cELEBRATING AMERICA’S 250TH anniversary
International Naval Review 250 is a major commemorative maritime event scheduled for July 3–8, 2026 in the Port of New York and New Jersey. The celebration, marking the 250th anniversary of the United States’ founding, will bring together more than 100 ships and 16,000 service members, and will highlight America’s maritime heritage, global cooperation and naval contributions to security and freedom of the seas.
THE HISTORY OF INR
This year’s International Naval Review will be the seventh naval review in the history of the United States, with the first being held in 1893. Named the Colombian Review, the celebration was held in honor of the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ arrival in the Americas.
Since then, naval reviews have marked significant moments in American history, including the return of the Great White Fleet in 1909, the end of World War II in 1945 and, most recently, the Bicentennial in July 1976.
This year’s Semiquincentennial celebrates America’s 250th anniversary, and is set to be the largest scale naval review in our nation’s history.
our EVENTS
While the New York Council Navy League is still in the planning stages of INR250 and things are subject to change, here are some events and other initiatives members, partners, and friends can look forward to.
Welcome to the Fleet RECEPTION, July 5
Fans of our marquee Fleet Week event, the Richard and Doris Scheuing CO/XO Reception, can expect a similar event that brings participating sea service members and the general public together for a celebration of our nation’s maritime. This year’s version will be a party with more service members representing navies around the world, co-hosted by New York Council Navy League and Northwell Health. Registration is currently available for New York Council members only. If you are a member in good standing as of June 12 and did not receive an email invitation, please contact us at info@nynavyleague.org.
“LIBERTY NYC” WALKING TOUR APP
The New York Council has launched a walking tour app for visiting sailors, developed by cadets from the U.S. Air Force Academy. This mobile app — available for free to all on both the Apple and Google Play Stores — highlights historical and cultural landmarks, military-friendly businesses and services, and even the location of public restrooms. Content is provided in multiple languages for our international visitors as well.
Helmets to Hardhats job fair, July 6
New York Council Navy League and Helmets to Hardhats are hosting a job fair with light refreshments at John Jay College of Criminal Justice to help military members plan their next steps. With representatives from at least 15 building trades, any military member considering a post-service career in construction — whether that change is coming soon or in a few years — is welcome to attend.
ship tours
Public tours of the visiting ships will be limited, so watch this space for information about our pre-arranged private tours for New York Council members and their guests.
