The Commandant of the Coast Guard, Admiral Karl Schultz, with NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill and FDNY Chief of Department John Sudnik, will conduct a ceremony in Battery Park to announce the historic naming of new Coast Guard Fast Response Cutters after NYPD and FDNY 9/11 heroes who also served as USCG Reservists.
Fast Response Cutter 62 will be named after Port Security Specialist Second Class Vincent Danz, who was an NYPD officer assigned to the Emergency Service Unit Truck 3. Fast Response Cutter 63 will be named after Machinery Technician First Class Jeffrey Palazzo, who was an FDNY firefighter assigned to Rescue Five. Both served honorably as Coast Guard Reservists at Sector New York and both died in the line of duty while responding to the World Trade Center on 9/11. Their families will attend the ceremony and the public is welcome to attend to honor these heroes.
