1917 Film Screening

American Legion Post 754 has graciously invited New York Council members and their guests to attend a screening of the film 1917 on Wednesday, January 8 at 6:00 P.M. at the AMC Empire Theater (234 West 42nd bet 7th & 8th Ave). The film is based on a story told to the writer, Sam Mendes, by his grandfather, Alfred Mendes, who served in World War I. The film opened in the U.S. on Christmas for a limited release and will open to general release on January 10. There is no cost for the showing; seats are first come, first served and are open to any veteran or veteran supporter. You can register online here.

Once registered for the show, your tickets will be available at check in with a Post representative at the theater. The movie runs 114 minutes and after the show everyone is invited to Bar Dough (350 W 46th) for a cash bar. Bar Dough is owned and operated by Marine veteran and actor Joe Lisi, and offers gourmet pizza and a full service bar with a 10% discount for military and first responders.

Army-Navy Game Watch Party

Go Navy! New York Council Navy League and Naval Academy Association of New York invite members, friends and fans to join us on December 14 at 2:30 P.M. for our final Navy Midshipmen football watch party of the season at Latitude Bar & Lounge, 783 8th Ave (between 47th and 48th). 21 and older only; no elevator access. Free admission for members includes appetizers and cash bar; for $10 you can get a souvenir pint glass and your first beer free. $10 admission for non-members includes the glass and complimentary first drink.

Holiday Party for members and guests

Join us at India House, One Hanover Square, to celebrate this most festive of seasons with members and friends of the New York Council Navy League. Celebrate the holiday spirit with hot and cold hors d'oeuvre selections, a pasta station, premium open bar, dessert and coffee station, and live entertainment.

Navy League member tickets are $65; guest tickets are $75.

Football Watch Party: USNA vs Notre Dame

After a great time cheering on the U.S. Naval Academy to victory over the Air Force Academy last month, it’s time to do it again —

Join us and our co-hosts from the Naval Academy Association of New York at our November football watch party, at Latitude, 783 8th Ave. Navy League and NAANY members can attend for free; guest admission is $10 and includes a souvenir pint glass and first drink free. Members can choose to pay the $10 and receive the pint glass and drink ticket.

Bring friends for an afternoon of food, football and fun! And save the date for our final watch party of the season — the Army-Navy Game on December 14.

Annual Membership Meeting

Annual Membership Meeting

The Annual Meeting of the members of the Navy League of the United States, New York Council, will be held at the Cornell Club, 6 East 44th Street, New York, NY, Wednesday, November 13, 2019, from 6:30 P.M. until 8:30 P.M.

Navy League members in good standing will vote on the slate of directors proposed by the Nominating Committee. At its first board meeting, the newly elected Board of Directors will vote on the proposed slate of Council officers and Advisory Committee members.

We are sending a meeting notice by mail as well, along with a proxy card that we ask you to return whether you plan to attend the meeting or not. When you receive it, please return the registration form and proxy card and let your voice be heard.

Preceding the meeting there will be an hors d'oeuvre reception so you can meet fellow members, catch up on Council news, volunteer for a committee and learn about plans for 2020.

Veterans Day

Thank you to all United States Veterans from the New York Council Navy League

There are no words to express the depth of our thanks to those who have served our country, but many businesses and organizations are expressing gratitude through action. Our youth program participants will be marching in today's NYC Veterans Day parade, organized by the United War Veterans Council. Please note that our office will be closed today in observance of the holiday.
